Arsenal will go into the new season in buoyant mood after beating Chelsea 1-0 in the Community Shield this afternoon thanks to a fine strike from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Gunners scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half when The Ox cut inside Cesar Azpilicueta before firing a missile into the top corner of Thibaut Courtois net – watch video highlights here.

Both side had chances after the break to add to the score-line but no further goals were scored and Arsenal lifted the Community Shield for the second season in a row, and the win will surely reinforce that Arsene Wenger’s men are serious contenders this season.

After the game, several of the players have taken to Twitter to react to the victory with Petr Cech, Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez, Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Jack Wilshere and Emi Martinez all having their say.
