Alexis Sanchez remains a doubt to play for Chile on Friday after suffering a groin injury but two Arsenal midfielder’s are set to return to action after the international break.

Sanchez was back to his sparkling best form last weekend as his two-goal performance helped us to an impressive 3-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates.

The attacker was forced off towards the closing stages of the game after picking up a groin injury but that didn’t stop him from travelling to Chile to link-up with the rest of his national team squad.

However, the 26-year-old has failed to take part in any training sessions so far this week as he struggles to shake off the groin problem in time to line-up against Brazil in Santiago on Friday night.

Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli confirmed that Sanchez and Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal were still doubts for the World Cup qualifier tomorrow:

“Neither Vidal nor Alexis are confirmed for the Brazil game,” Sampaoli is quoted as saying by the Guardian.

I’m sure Arsene Wenger will be looking on with interest to see if Alexis plays any part against Brazil as he won’t want Chile to take any unnecessary risks with  his star man.

After a slow start to the season due to his participation in the Copa America, Sanchez has just got back to his best so it would be a devastating blow if he was to aggravate his hamstring injury tomorrow night.

While the boss sweats over the fitness of Sanchez, the Daily Mail claim that he’ll have two players available again next weekend with Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini set to return from injury.

Flamini was forced off early on during our 5-2 win over Leicester after suffering a hamstring injury while Arteta also picked up a muscle problem after replacing the Frenchman at the King Power.

Both players have missed our recent games against Olympiakos and Manchester United but the Mail beleive they will be back in contention when we travel to Watford next Saturday evening.
