Manchester United will look to get their Premier League campaign back on track when they take on Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Louis van Gaal has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference today and has given ManUtd.com a team news and injury update.

The Dutchman was pleased to confirm a quadruple injury boost with Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo all passed fit for the game.

Rooney didn’t feature in either of England’s two European Championship qualifiers during the international break due to a minor foot injury but the skipper is now available to face his former side this weekend.

Carrick also failed to play for the Three Lions against either Estonia or Lithuani due to a slight groin injury but van Gaal is confident the midfielder is now back in contention on Saturday.

Herrera withdrew from the Spain squad with a minor knock while Rojo was also kept back at United’s Aon training complex during the international break to recover from a hamstring problem but both players are now available for selection – although van Gaal isn’t convinced they’re ready to play the full ninety minutes just yet.

Phil Jones has endured an injury-plagued season so far but got his first ninety minutes under his belt for England on Monday night and the United boss has confirmed the versatile defender is now considered ready for selection.

“Wayne Rooney, I think he can play and Michael Carrick can play as well,” van Gaal told ManUtd.com

“They were injured and they have a rehabilitation period behind their back and everything went well,” the boss told MUTV. “They are also fit to play – maybe not 90 minutes but you never know.”

“I was very pleased with Jones. Yes, of course because he has already played for me two times for 15 or 20 minutes. Then he plays for the England team. When I want to select him I can select him for the line-up.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger missed Germany’s double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Georgia after sustaining a minor groin injury but van Gaal didn’t mention the 31-year-old in his injured-player list so we have to assume he’s available to face Everton.

However, there was some bad news to come from today’s press conference as van Gaal confirmed that Paddy McNair is facing a month on the sidelines after suffering an abdominal injury while away with the Northern Ireland squad this week.

Ashley Young is also set to miss the trip to Goodison Park after picking up a calf injury during United’s 3-0 loss at Arsenal before the international break so van Gaal has a decision to make at left-back with Luke Shaw obviously still unavailable.
