Transfer News: Liverpool Join Man Utd In Race For £25m-Rated Midfielder

Liverpool have joined the likes of Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in the race for £25m-rated Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud

Liverpool have joined the likes of Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in the race for £25m-rated Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 20-year-old has progressed through the youth ranks at Gladbach having joined the club as a teenager and has earned rave reviews following his breakthrough season where he’s starred alongside Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.

Dahoud’s potential has caught the eye of several top Premier League clubs with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race for his signature while the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the youngster.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is set to continue his rebuilding job at Anfield and has seemingly earmarked Dahoud as his latest new addition having already agreed to sign defender Joel Matip on a free transfer from Schalke while highly-rated young midfielder Marko Grujic will join from Red Star Belgrade.

Louis van Gaal’s position as United boss is under threat after a frustrating campaign but whoever’s in charge at Old Trafford is expected to be extremely busy in the transfer market this summer and Dahoud is also on the Manchester giants radar.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl recently insisted that the club would do all they could to hang on to the Syrian-born midfielder but the Liverpool Echo suggest that an offer of at least £25m may persuade the Bundesliga outfit to cash-in.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool or United will be willing to pay that kind of money but Dahoud is a hugely exciting talent who’s already been capped by the German under-21’s at international level and is tipped to break in to the senior set-up soon.

The youngster is a box-to-box midfielder who’s scored four goals and provided eight assists in his 37 appearances in all competitions this season and he’s known for his high work-rate and excellent range of passing, so he sounds like he’d be an excellent signing for either Liverpool or United.
