Chelsea Express Interest In Signing Attacker With 53 Goals/Assists This Season

Chelsea have expressed their interest in signing Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer as Antonio Conte plots his summer transfer moves

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Henrikh Mkhitaryan…

Chelsea have expressed their interest in signing Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer as Antonio Conte plots his summer transfer moves, according to the Mirror.

Conte is officially due to take over form interim manager Guus Hiddink once he’s fulfilled his duties with the Italian national team at the European Championships but he’s already making plans for his time in the Blues hot-seat.

It looks like the Italian coach is looking to bolster his attacking options as the Mirror claim that Chelsea have expressed an interest in signing Borussia Dortmund’s goal-scoring midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian international made his name during a three-year spell at Shakhtar Donestk before moving to Germany in 2013 and he’s continued to impress during his time in the Bundesliga over the past three seasons.

Mkhitaryan has chipped in with an incredible 23 goals and 30 assists in all competitions this season to help Dortmund to the final of the German cup and qualify for the Champions League after finishing runner-up to Bayern Munich in the league.

However, despite the fact they can’t offer any form of European football next year, it appears Chelsea are hoping to lure the attacking midfielder to Stamford Bridge and it’s easy to see why when you consider the staggering numbers he’s capable of producing in terms of goals and assists.

Chelsea have endured a disastrous campaign that’s seen them relinquish their Premier League title without a fight so they could certainly do with a player of Mkhitaryan’s ability in the final third, particularly if Eden Hazard is lured away this summer.

Dortmund will no doubt be keen to keep hold of the attacker but as he’s got little over a year left on his current contract, this is going to be a pivotal summer in determining the player’s future.

If Mkhitaryan doesn’t sign an extension soon, Dortmund may be forced to cash-in while they can still demand a reasonable transfer fee and it looks like Chelsea will be ready to pounce if the 27-year-old fancies a move to England.
