Striker Keen On £46m Arsenal Move Despite Chelsea Interest

A striker is ready to snub interest from Chelsea and join Arsenal in a £46m deal if he ends up re-signing for Real Madrid this summer. Find out details here

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Chelsea target Alvaro Morata…

Juventus striker Alvaro Morata is ready to snub interest from Chelsea and join Arsenal in a £46m deal if he ends up re-signing for Real Madrid this summer, according to the Sun.

Morata came through the youth system at Madrid but was forced to leave the Spanish giants after failing to establish himself and he ended up joining Juventus back in the summer of 2014.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed his time in Italy having helped Juve secure back-to-back Serie A titles as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2015, but his time in Turin looks set to come to an abrupt end.

Spanish outlet AS claim that Madrid have decided to activate a £23m buyback clause that was inserted in to Morata’s deal two years ago and will immediately sell the striker on at a huge profit.

The Sun cite the Spanish daily newspaper as saying that Morata’s agent, Juanma Lopez, met with Madrid officials on Monday to try and resolve his clients future ahead of this summers European championships.

The paper says that while Chelsea are interested in taking Morata to Stamford Bridge, the striker is keen to make the move to Arsenal with Madrid ready to do business with the Gunners at £46m.

Arsene Wenger needs to bring in another striker this summer after losing Danny Welbeck for nine months with a knee injury and the French boss has been a long-term admirer of Morata’s, so it looks as though he could finally get his hands on the player this summer.

The Sun claim that Arsenal are ready to make Morata their highest-paid player with a bumper contract offer worth around £155,000-a-week, but it remains to be seen whether Wenger will be prepared to meet Madrid’s reported £46m asking price.

If the frugal Frenchman baulks at that figure, it will open the door for Chelsea and we all know they have the financial power to pay whatever it takes to lure Morata to West London.

Antonio Conte is expected to rebuild the Chelsea squad this summer after a disastrous campaign at Stamford Bridge and Morata would provide vital support to Diego Costa if he was to make the move, with Radamel Falcao heading back to Monaco while Loic Remy is expected to find a new club.
