Mahrez Agrees To Join Arsenal In Possible £37m Deal Following Talks With Wenger

Riyad Mahrez has agreed to join Arsenal following talks with Arsene Wenger and is hoping to push through a £37m move after rejecting a new deal from Leicester

The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Riyad Mahrez has already agreed to join Arsenal….

Riyad Mahrez has agreed to join Arsenal following talks with Arsene Wenger and is now hoping to push through a potential £37m deal after rejecting a new contract from Leicester City, according to Algerian outlet Le Buteur.

Mahrez has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer and Eurosport FR reported last weekend that Wenger had held talks with the players camp following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Lens last month.

It appears that the meeting must have gone well as Le Buteur are now claiming that Mahrez has agreed to join Arsenal after holding talks with Wenger and is now ‘insisting’ on making a move to North London.

The Algerian news outlet suggests that Leicester sent officials to visit the 25-year-old in the US last week with the aim of persuading him to sign a new £100,000-a-week contract extension but Mahrez rejected their advances due to his desire to join Arsenal.

The PFA Player of the Year still has three years left to run on his current contract but Claudio Ranieri has always maintained that he won’t keep any player against their will, and Le Buteur claim Mahrez could now join Arsenal in a £37m before the end of the summer.

However, relations between the two clubs may have soured slightly as the newspaper suggests that Leicester were upset after Wenger and assistant manager Steve Bould watched Mahrez in action during the Foxes 4-0 friendly defeat to PSG last weekend as they feel their presence has unsettled the player even further.

Wenger refused to deny his interest in the attacker after being quizzed by the Mirror about his presence at the game on Sunday but I don’t see why Leicester can be upset by it. We do play them on the second week of the new season after all, so the boss had every right to scout them so close to that match.

We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out but obviously Mahrez would be a sensational signing for Arsenal and while he may not be the striker we desperately need, he would still be a big upgrade on our current right-wing options.

If we successfully get a deal agreed for the Algerian international, I think we could see Theo Walcott leave the club this summer – although Wenger will probably only sanction his sale once we’ve secured a new striker.
