Striker Determined To Join Chelsea As Conte Lines-Up £60m Swap Deal Offer

An international striker is determined to join Chelsea as the Blues prepare to offer £60m plus a player in exchange for his signature.

The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on Chelsea’s pursuit of Romelu Lukaku…

Romelu Lukaku is determined to rejoin Chelsea this summer as the Blues prepare to offer Everton £60m plus Loic Remy in exchange for the Belgian international’s signature, according to the Evening Standard.

Antonio Conte has already signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille but the Italian tactician is expected to sign another striker before the end of the month and Lukaku is widely reported to be his prime target.

The Daily Star reported two weeks ago that Chelsea had seen their opening £57m offer rejected for Lukaku with the Toffees desperate to keep hold of the striker and insisting that it would take a bid of £75m to persuade them to cash-in.

The west Londoners are understandably reluctant to stretch that far but the Evening Standard claim that Chelsea are set to submit an improved offer of £60m in cash plus Loic Remy in exchange for Lukaku’s signature.

Remy  joined Chelsea in 2014 from QPR in a £10.5m deal but despite his struggles at Stamford Bridge, the Frenchman should still be worth around the same figure he was purchased for two years ago meaning that Chelsea’s new bid will be worth a lot closer to Everton’s valuation.

The deal would also provide the Merseysiders with a direct replacement so they could be tempted to do a deal, but the Evening Standard suggest that Everton have still not given up hope of persuading Lukaku to stay at Goodison Park and are ready to offer him a new £135,000-a-week deal.

However, Chelsea could easily match that sort of money and the newspaper says that the 23-year-old hitman remains keen on moving back to the capital where he has unfinished business following an unsuccessful three-year spell at the Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku has developed in to one of the best strikers in the Premier League since leaving Chelsea having scored 45 goals in his last two seasons so there is no doubt it was a mistake to let the player leave.

It looks like the Blues have acknowledged their error and are keen to make up for it by paying huge money to take the striker back to West London, and I think Lukaku would be a superb signing if they were able to pull it off this summer.
