Arsenal and Chelsea are facing fresh competition to sign Riyad Mahrez after Juventus joined the chase to sign the £30m-rated Leicester City attacker this summer, according to The Sun.

Mahrez emerged as one of the best attackers in Europe after registering 17 goals and 10 assists to help fire Leicester to a shock Premier League title win in 2015/16 and land himself the PFA Player of the Year award.

The 26-year-old was strongly linked with a move away from the King Power last summer but chose to sign a new contract and lead the Foxes in to their debut campaign in the Champions League.

Like many of his team mates, the Algerian international struggled in the league but he saved his best form for Europe where he helped guide Leicester in to the quarter finals before they crashed out to Altetico Madrid.

Mahrez is now agitating for a move after submitting a formal transfer request at the end of last season and it’s once again led to speculation linking him with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger is in the market for attacking reinforcements as he looks to try and build a squad capable of competing for the title next season and the Gunners boss was quoted by the Independent as saying last week that a bid for Mahrez could be on the cards.

The Telegraph then reported that Chelsea had joined Arsenal in the race to sign Mahrez as Antonio Conte tries to further strengthen the champions ahead of their return to the Champions League.

However, it looks as though the London duo will now face a stiff battle to land the Algerian as The Sun are citing a report from the Mirror that says Juventus have now joined the chase to land Mahrez.

The newspaper claims the Italian giants will target Mahrez if they fail to sign Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich but Leicester are demanding a fee of at least £30m for their star attacker.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Mahrez would be an excellent signing for Arsenal or Chelsea so hopefully one of the London duo will be able to get a deal agreed as it would be a shame to see him leave England.
