Chelsea Close-In On £70m Deal To Sign 40-Goal Hitman

Chelsea have ditched attempts to sign Alvaro Morata because they are closing-in on a £70m deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang….

Chelsea have ditched their attempts to sign Alvaro Morata because they are closing-in on a £70m deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead, according to a report in the Express.

Antonio Conte is desperate to sign a top goal-scorer this summer after telling Diego Costa he is no longer part of his plans for next season but he’s been frustrated in his attempts so far.

The Blues have been linked with a move for Morata in recent days after missing out on the signing of Romelu Lukaku but it looks like Conte has now turned his attention to another striker.

The Express are citing a report from Marca that claims Chelsea have ended their interest in the Real Madrid striker because they are closing-in on a deal to sign Aubameyang.

The Gabon international is looking to leave Dortmund and has been linked with a move to China and French giants Paris Saint-Germain but the Spanish outlet suggests a switch to Stamford Bridge is now on the cards.

This news comes after Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed that Dortmund have offered Chelsea the chance to sign Aubameyang this summer for £70m.

Solhekol is quoted by the Express as saying:

“Now to another striker who is in demand. We are hearing this morning that Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

“He was the top scorer in Germany last season. He can leave Dortmund this summer for £70million.”

It seems the Premier League champions have jumped at the opportunity to sign one of the most prolific strikers in Europe with Aubameyang netting an incredible 40 goals in all competitions last season.

The 28-year-old is a few years older than Morata but he’s shown himself to be a far more ruthless finisher and he has the pace and physicality to be a real success in England.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Aubameyang would be a sensational signing for Chelsea and I’d love to see him plying his trade in the Premier League next season.
