Bale & Modric Could Re-Join Tottenham As Part Of Mega £179m Deal

Real Madrid are ready to offer Tottenham Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema in exchange for £179m-rated striker Harry Kane

The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, could Gareth Bale and Luka Modric be heading back to Tottenham?

Real Madrid are ready to offer Tottenham Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema in exchange for £179m-rated striker Harry Kane, according to reports in Spain via the Daily Star.

Kane has developed in to one of the best strikers in the world since coming through the ranks at Tottenham and has enjoyed an excellent start to the new season having scored 11 goals in just 9 games so far.

The 24-year-old is understandably attracting interest from all over Europe and it looks like Champions League holders Real Madrid are ready to get serious with their pursuit of the striker.

The Daily Star are citing a report from Diario Gol that claims Madrid are desperate to sign Kane but president Florentino Perez is reluctant to meet Tottenham’s reported £179m (€200m) valuation.

In order to reduce the financial outlay, it’s stated in the Spanish publication that Perez is prepared to offer Bale, Modric and Benzema in exchange for the England international’s signature.

Ideally Madrid would like to do a straight swap for Bale but the Welshman’s injury problems mean his value has significantly decreased so the La Liga giants are willing to throw-in Modric and Benzema in order to get a deal agreed.

Bale and Modric both made their names at White Hart Lane before joining Madrid so I’m sure Tottenham fans would be delighted to see them re-join the club while Benzema would offer them a top class replacement for Kane.

However, as tempting as it might be to take Bale, Modric and Benzema I’m still not convinced Mauricio Pochettino or chairman Daniel Levy would accept Madrid’s swap offer, if it actually comes to fruition.

Bale’s injury woes are well documented and Benzema – turns 30 in December – has just come off the back of his worst season in Spain having scored just 11 La Liga goals last term.

Modric is still considered one of the best central midfielder in the world but he’s coming towards the end of his illustrious career as he’ll turn 33 next year so this might not be such a tempting deal for Spurs after-all.

The north Londoners may be better off demanding a straight cash deal if they do decide to cash-in on Kane and give Pochettino the funds to sign the players he wants.
