Arsene Wenger has offered an update on Sead Kolasinac after the full-back limped out of Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Swansea City at the Emirates this afternoon.

Kolasinac was a hugely influential figure in the game as he scored an excellent equaliser and set-up Aaron Ramsey for the eventual winner as we came from behind to collect all three points.

After Sam Clucas had put the visitors ahead of the 21st minute, Kolasinac fired home a powerful effort shortly after the break before finding Ramsey with a pin-point cross to make it 2-1 just minutes later.

It capped an excellent all-round display from the Bosnian international and he was many people’s Man of the Match, however, Kolasinac was unable to complete the full ninety minutes after hobbling off with 15 minutes to go.

Wenger has confirmed the left-back has aggravated a hip injury and we now face a race against time to get him fit for next weekend’s huge trip to Manchester City.

Wenger is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard:

“He had that already before but he came back today. It’s a tight muscle in his hip. How long will he be out? I don’t know; we hope to get him fit for next Sunday.

“He had that before and we managed to get him available.

“It came back a bit too much so I thought there’s no need to take a gamble. He wanted to come off. I haven’t spoken to him since.”

It would be a huge blow if Kolasinac was ruled out of the City game in eight days time as he’s been an excellent signing since joining the club on a free transfer in the summer.

If he’s ruled out, then Nacho Monreal will have to move out to the left wing-back position with Rob Holding coming in to join Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny in the back three, which wouldn’t be ideal away to a free-scoring City side.

Arsene Wenger should personally monitor Kolasinac injury before next Sunday crunch match.
