Chelsea Injury Boost: Conte Expects Key Man To Be Fit For Liverpool Trip

Chelsea have been handed an injury boost with Antonio Conte confirming Victor Moses will be back in contention for the trip to Liverpool next weekend.

Chelsea have been handed an injury boost with Antonio Conte confirming Victor Moses will be back in contention for the trip to Liverpool next weekend.

Moses has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury during the first half of Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park back on October 14.

The Nigerian international has taken longer than expected to recover and missed his seventh consecutive game in all competitions having sat out the win over West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

Davide Zappacosta has deputised well in the right wing-back position during Moses’ absence and he played his part during an impressive 4-0 victory at the Hawthorns today.

However, Zappacosta will have competition again soon as Conte has confirmed that he expects Moses to resume full training on Sunday and while he won’t be risked for the Champions League clash with Qarabag on Wednesday night, the winger should be back in contention for the trip to Anfield next weekend.

Speaking after the win over West Brom today, Conte told Chelseafc.com:

‘Victor Moses is progressing well and I hope to have him back from tomorrow, for the game after Qarabag. It’s important to have all the senior players in good form without injuries.’

Moses’s return will come as a boost to Chelsea as he played a key role in helping the west Londoners win the title last season and has continued to be Conte’s first choice right wing-back having settled in to the new role over the past 18 months.

Chelsea head to Anfield next weekend sitting three points above Liverpool in the Premier League table so Conte will be desperate to strengthen their top four hopes with a positive result on Merseyside.
