Aubameyang To Arsenal: Positive Update From Germany As Gunners Close-In On £60m Star

Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Borussia Dortmund chiefs want the striker sold this month

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the latest on Arsenal’s attempts to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…

Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Borussia Dortmund chiefs want the striker sold this month, according to reports in Germany via the Mirror.

Arsene Wenger is trying to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer window closes after losing Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott this month and Aubameyang is a top target.

Arsenal have been negotiating with Dortmund chiefs for the past week after chief executive Ivan Gazidis, lawyer Huss Fahmy and head scout Sven Mislintat flew-out to Germany last weekend to thrash out a deal for the striker.

So far we’ve been frustrated in our attempts to agree a fee as the Mirror claim that our two offers of £44m and £50m have been rejected after falling short of Dortmund’s £60m valuation.

There have been reports suggesting that the Bundesliga club are growing tired of the slow progress in negotiations and boss Peter Stoger has included Aubameyang in his squad for today’s match with Freiburg.

However, the Mirror are citing a report from Sky Sports Germany that claims Dortmund managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and sporting director Michael Zorc both want Aubameyang sold this month.

The report says the Dortmund chiefs want to see the back of the striker due to their strained relationship following several disciplinary issues over the past 15 months that have led to Aubameyang being slapped with three internal suspensions.

The 28-year-old and his family have also received negative press in Germany recently and the whole saga is causing tension in the Dortmund dressing room so it looks like they want to see the back of him sooner rather than later.

This will all strengthen Arsenal’s negotiating position as we head in to what’s going to be a pivotal few days where a breakthrough needs to be found or we’ll risk missing out on Aubameyang’s signature entirely this month.

Personally, I think an agreement will be found in the end as Arsenal want the player, Aubameyang wants to leave and Dortmund want to sell so it’s only a matter of time before a deal is agreed.
