Arsenal’s Busy Transfer Window…

Arsenal news

The transfer window shuts in roughly ten days and yet there has not been much movement by the boss on our defence. Now I know we all say that the guy knows what he is doing but in my opinion I don’t think we are going to sign anybody this winter.

Yes, the boss usually comes up with a statement circulating the fact that there is nobody in the market who can surpass or ‘add’ any quality to the existing crop of players ( he does have a point ) but a cover up defender would not be too bad would it?

Circulation goes on regarding the future of Chris Samba and Gary Cahill, although the latter’s arrival to London seems unlikely due to Bolton’s demanded transfer value. Now I have no idea what some websites get by linking us to players who we know we have no chance of getting, but I guess they just like it. Yesterday I read a report stating that FC Barcelona’s Pedro shall be subject to a 25 million pound bid from Arsenal and I nearly fell of my seat. Moreover, some recent report even claimed we would get Richard Dunne from Villa and Emir Spahic would move to the Villains via mutual consent or some crap. I mean seriously, who do they think convince with all these stories?

Now it does not look like we are going to get defender, and of course you have all right to ask me what makes me say so. Well in all honesty here is what AW said in his latest update :

“No, it is still nowhere, We get many offers but, at the moment, nothing concrete.

“I cannot tell you [about the type of player] at the moment because it has to click in my head and nothing has happened yet.

“If you look at the centre backs we have, they are quality – Djourou, Squillaci, Koscielny, Vermaelen. The quality of the player coming in, what will it be? Is it a complement to the players we have already? It’s very difficult to predict.”

I don’t want to question Wenger, but I do feel we should get a cover up defender just in case. They say it takes a moment of brilliance to change a football match, well, it also takes a single knock or injury to deter a clubs title chances. Let’s say, and God forbid it, that Djourou or Kosher get injured. We shall have no defense. Yeah, Song can fill as a defender but that will just take away one of the strong point in our midfield. And please don’t tell me Denilson can cover up for Song, because he can’t !!!

I say let’s go for a loan deal for some good defender in some other league such as the French or German league. You know just in case. Henrik Larsson was loaned to United and he did have an impact, so why not ? I mean Fergie did offer him a permanent deal.

It’s possible that Chris Samba may not come in the end, and there is always a probability of injuries. So why take the risk? We are in good form and hopefully it should continue. A new defender within our ranks would not cause us too much harm would it?

Anyway, let’s just keep the faith with our Boss. He should know what he is doing, and probably knows very well what I am talking about. I probably will come out with an Arsenal transfer season review at the beginning of February, so hopefully we will have seen some changes by then…although I really doubt it.

Cheers,

THE ARMOURY
