Fulham’s £50m-rated starlet Ryan Sessegnon favours a move to Tottenham this summer over the likes of Liverpool or Manchester United, according to the Mirror.
Sessegnon has been with Fulham since joining the club as a youngster and has progressed through the youth ranks to emerge as one of the most sought-after teenagers in European football.
The 17-year-old broke through as a left-back but has been playing slightly further forward this season which has led to him scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances for the Cottagers.
That stunning form has caught the attention of clubs in the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Liverpool, Spurs and Man Utd are all hoping to sign him this summer while there has also been interest from abroad.
United need to find a long-term successor to Ashley Young at left-back as Luke Shaw has failed to hold down a place while Jurgen Klopp could also be in the market for a left-sided player amid on-going doubts over Alberto Moreno.
Sessegnon is on their radar, however, it looks like United and Liverpool could miss out as the Mirror says Sessegnon favours a move to Tottenham as he’d prefer to remain in London.
Mauricio Pochettino could be eyeing the teenager as a potential replacement for Danny Rose as his future at Spurs is in doubt and the Argentinean coach has a solid track record of developing young talent.
Fulham refused to sell Sessegnon in January but they will do well to keep hold of the youngster beyond the summer, even if they manage to gain promotion back to the Premier League.
The attacking full-back has just over two years left to run on his contract and the newspaper report says Fulham want around £50m for Sessegnon’s signature this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but Sessegnon is a huge talent so I think it will be a major coup if Spurs manage to beat Liverpool and United to his signature.
