Arsenal & Chelsea In Battle To Sign £40m Brazilian Attacker

Arsenal and Chelsea will have to battle Paris St Germain and Monaco in the race to sign £40m-rated Watford attacker Richarlison this summer

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Richarlison….

Arsenal and Chelsea will have to battle Paris St Germain and Monaco in the race to sign £40m-rated Watford attacker Richarlison this summer, according to the Mirror.

Richarlison joined Watford in an £11.5m move from Fluminense last summer and enjoyed an excellent start to life in the Premier League after providing 5 goals and 5 assists during his first 13 appearances.

That impressive form attracted interest from the upper echelons of the division as the Mirror claim that Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on signing the Brazilian attacker this summer.

Arsene Wenger is under pressure to revamp his squad after another disappointing domestic campaign and it looks like the Gunners have earmarked Richarlison as a potential transfer target.

Chelsea are also expected to undergo a squad overhaul after a poor season that looks destined to see them miss out on Champions League qualification and the west Londoners are also being linked with Richarlison.

However, the duo will now face stiff competition from France as the Mirror claim that Monaco and PSG have joined Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign the South American forward this summer.

Richarlison’s early-season form has deserted him as he hasn’t scored in 22 games and was dropped for the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend but that doesn’t look to have deterred potential suitors.

Despite his inconsistent form of late, the Mirror claim that Watford are still expecting plenty of interest in Richarlison at the end of the season and have slapped a £40m price-tag on his head.

It remains to be seen if any club will be prepared to meet that asking price but Richarlison is still only 20 and has bags of potential so the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea may see him as a good investment for the future if they could get a deal agreed with Watford.
