Liverpool Closing-In On £30m Deal As Klopp Kick-Starts Summer Business

Liverpool are closing-in on a shock £30m deal to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as Jurgen Klopp kick starts his summer transfer business

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are closing in on Ruben Neves…

Liverpool are closing-in on a shock £30m deal to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as Jurgen Klopp kick starts his summer transfer business, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Neves made his name at Porto where he made almost 100 first team appearances after coming through their youth ranks while he’s also making a late push to be named in the Portuguese squad for this summers World Cup finals.

The defensive midfielder was linked with a whole host of top European clubs last summer before opting to make a £15.8m move to Wolves with agent Jorge Mendes playing a key role in the surprise switch.

Neves has continued to enhance his reputation at Molineux as he’s played a key role in securing promotion to the Premier League while he’s also earned a place in the PFA Championship team of the year.

It seems the Portuguese international’s performances have caught the eye of Klopp as TeamTalk are citing Lisbon-based journalist Marcus Alves as claiming that Liverpool are in advanced negotiations to sign Neves this summer.

The report suggests that the Merseysiders will pay Wolves around £30m to sign the 21-year-old midfielder meaning the Championship club will almost double their money in just 12 months.

The Midlands club are understood to be resigned to losing Neves and TeamTalk say they’ve already lined-up a move to sign Benfica’s Anderson Talisca as a replacement.

Klopp is expected to be in the market for a new midfielder as Emre Can is being tipped to leave when his contract expires in June and it seems Neves is the man Liverpool have earmarked to replace the German star.

It could be viewed by some as a surprise signing given Neves has spent the last year in the Championship but he is a huge talent who has experience in the Champions League with Porto so I think he’d be a great addition to Klopp’s squad.
