Man Utd Open Talks With Serie A Star Ahead Of Possible £35m Move

The summer transfer window is about to open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Leonardo Bonucci is linked with Man Utd…

Jose Mourinho has opened talks with AC Milan star Leonardo Bonucci ahead of a potential £35m move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Italy via the Metro.

Mourinho is expected to be heavily active in the transfer market this summer as he looks to create a squad capable of competing with the likes of Manchester City for top honours next season.

The Portuguese coach is being tipped to revamp his defence as Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have struggled with injuries while Victor Lindelof has failed to establish himself since arriving from Benfica 12 months ago.

Several centre-back’s have been linked with United in recent months but Bonucci has emerged as a potential target and it looks like Mourinho has stepped-up his interest in the Milan star.

That’s because the Metro are citing a report from Tuttosport that claims Mourinho has made contact with Bonucci to discuss a possible move to Old Trafford this summer.

The 31-year-old only moved to the San Siro in a £37m deal from Juventus last summer but the Italian publication says Milan are open to the idea of cashing-in if an offer of at least £35m is put on the table.

Milan spent heavily last summer but after missing out on Champions League qualification, the club needs to balance the books so they are prepared to let Bonucci go if the price is right.

The former Italian captain has been one of the best central defenders in Europe for several years and won six consecutive Serie A titles during his time at Juve before moving to Milan last summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how talks progress over the coming weeks but I think Bonucci would be an excellent addition to the United squad if they could get a deal agreed for his signature.

Why? Because Mourinho is incapable of improving players or turning young players into a team. He does not have either the patience or the skills to do that so United’s legacy from Mourinho will be a team of pensioners with all capable youth team players playing at City or Madrid, Bayern or Barcelona.
