‘I Want To Join Arsenal’ – £35m Man Utd Target Wants Arsenal Move, Talks Underway

Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed he wants to join Arsenal amid reports we’re in talks with Freiburg over a potential deal

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed he wants to join Arsenal….

Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed he wants to join Arsenal amid reports the Gunners in talks with Freiburg over a potential deal, according to Turkish newspaper Gunes.

Soyuncu has developed in to one of the best young centre-backs in the Bundesliga since joining Freiburg from Altinordu in 2016 and he’s also established himself with his country having represented Turkey 15 times at senior international level.

The 22-year-old’s potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as Football London reported recently that Arsenal and Manchester United were among the teams to have expressed their interest in signing Soyuncu this summer.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for defensive reinforcements as he looks to build a squad capable of competing with Manchester City next season and the United boss may be eyeing Soyuncu as a potential long-term partner for Eric Bailly.

However, it seems Arsenal’s interest in the most advanced as the Express carried quotes from Soyuncu’s agent earlier this month confirming the north Londoners have held concrete talks over a possible deal.

The players representative, Mustafa Dogru, claims Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is a huge fan of the Turkish international and all that remains is for a fee to be agreed with Freiburg.

Dogru is quoted by the Express as saying:

“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar.

“There are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.

Soyuncu has now confirmed that he wants to join Arsenal as he wants to play in the Premier League but admitted the decision will come down to Freiburg as he still has three year left on his contract with the German outfit.

Soyuncu is quoted as telling Turkish newspaper Gunes:

“I hope I go to Arsenal. I really want to play in the Premier League, but everything depends on the team.”

“I go to Arsenal. I want to play there, but everything is connected. Because I have a contract for 3 more years.”

Arsenal are expected to strengthen their back four this summer and have already snapped-up Stephan Lichtsteiner while a deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also reportedly on the verge of completion.

However, with Per Mertesacker now retired and Laurent Koscielny facing six months on the sidelines, Unai Emery could be in the market for two central defenders and it appears he’s keen to take Soyuncu to the Emirates.
