The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are set to sign Lee Grant…

Lee Grant is set to undergo a medical with Manchester United after a £1.5m deal was agreed with Stoke City for the experienced goalkeeper, according to the Mirror.

Jose Mourinho is expected to be busy this summer building a squad capable of competing with Manchester City for the Premier League title next season after finishing 19 points off their rivals last year and United have been linked with a whole host of top class names in recent weeks.

However, a shock name has emerged as a prime target as the Mirror are one of several media outlets who’re reporting that veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant is set for a surprise move to Old Trafford this week.

The newspaper says the 35-year-old will undergo a medical over the coming days after United agreed a £1.5m deal with Stoke City for his signature as Mourinho looks to bring-in an experienced No.3 this summer.

The Portuguese coach has agreed to send youngster Joel Pereira out on loan while Sam Johnstone looks set for a move to West Bromwich Albion leaving United short of back-up keepers.

They’ve made their move for Grant and as long as there are no last minute complications, the ageing stopper will provide cover for David De Gea and Sergio Romero next season.

Grant played for the likes of Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley throughout his career but has spent the last two-and-a-half years at Stoke where he’s made 32 Premier League appearances as Jack Butland’s No.2.

However, he’s jumped at the chance to join United and Grant is now set to become Mourinho’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of right-back Diogo Dalot from Porto and midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.
