Chelsea Agree £36m Deal As Sarri Looks To Secure His 3rd Summer Signing
Chelsea have agreed a £36m deal with Juventus for the signing of Daniele Rugani but the defender still needs to be convinced over the move to London
The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea have agreed a deal for Daniele Rugani….
Chelsea have agreed a £36m deal with Juventus for the signing of Daniele Rugani but the defender still needs to be convinced over the move to London, according to reports via the Express.
Maurizio Sarri has signed Italian midfielder Jorginho and third-choice goalkeeper Rob Green since replacing Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager last month but the 59-year-old is expected to be extremely busy over the next week further strengthening his squad ahead of the new season.
A new centre-back is seemingly a priority for Sarri as David Luiz, Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill have all been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge this summer and Rugani has been touted as a prime target in recent weeks.
It seems Chelsea have stepped-up their interest as the Express cite a report from Transfer Market Web that claims Blues officials met with Juventus representatives in Milan on Tuesday to discuss a deal for Rugani.
Those talks proved to be productive as the Italian publication says Chelsea have agreed a deal worth £36m for the 23-year-old’s signature to make the Italian international their third signing of the summer.
However, there is still one stumbling block to overcome as the report says Chelsea need to convince Rugani over the transfer as the defender has reservations about leaving Turin for west London.
The centre-back has struggled to establish himself under Max Allegri in recent years as Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Medhi Benatia have been ahead of him in the pecking order but Rugani is still hoping to force his way in to the first team this season.
However, Juve have just re-signed Leonardo Bonucci from AC Milan so Rugani could find himself knocked even further down the pecking order, which would be positive news for Chelsea’s hopes of signing him.

Sarri knows Rugani well as they worked together at Empoli between 2013-15 so it looks like the duo could be reunited at Stamford Bridge if the defender can be convinced to join Chelsea before next weeks deadline.
