Duo miss out as Pochettino makes 2 changes | Expected Tottenham line-up vs Man Utd

Tottenham will look to keep the pressure on the top two with a win when they take on Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday afternoon. Here is the side we think Mauricio Pochettino will select for the game:

Goalkeeper: Paulo Gazzaniga started during the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win over Chelsea in midweek but number one goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is expected to be recalled against United on Sunday.

Defence: Jan Vertonghen is back in full training after recovering from a hamstring injury but Pochettino doesn’t want to rush the Belgian international back too soon. Vertonghen will be assessed ahead of the game but a place on the bench is likely with Davinson Sanchez keeping his place alongside Toby Alderweireld in the middle of defence.

Kieran Trippier is expected to keep his place at right-back with Serge Aurier on the bench while we could see Ben Davies recalled at left-back with Danny Rose making way after starting against Chelsea.

Midfield: Mousa Dembele is back in full training after recovering from an ankle injury but Pochettino will make a late decision over his inclusion in the squad against Man Utd. The Tottenham boss hinted at his press conference that Dembele won’t be ready to start so he may only be deemed fit enough for a place on the bench at best.

Eric Dier returned to training on Thursday after having his appendix removed last month but the Man Utd game comes too soon as the England international is lacking match fitness while Victor Wanyama is still recovering from a knee injury. So Pochettino has little choice other than to stick with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko in midfield.

Attack: Christian Eriksen is almost certain to keep his place in the starting eleven but I think we could see the Danish international playing in a deeper role this weekend to combat Man Utd’s three-man midfield.

Harry Kane scored the controversial winning goal against Chelsea on Tuesday night but the striker won’t care about the question marks surrounding the circumstances leading up to the goal, and Kane will be looking to find the target again on Sunday.

Dele Alli should keep his place in attack while I expect Pochettino will make use of Hueng-min Son as this will be his final appearance for Tottenham before heading off to the Asian Cup.

Lucas Moura is a doubt after missing the win over Chelsea with a knee injury so he’ll be handed a late fitness test but Erik Lamela will be an option for Spurs from the bench along with Fernando Llorente.

Here is how I expect Spurs to line-up:
