Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to undergo his medical this week ahead of his £55m move from Crystal Palace to Manchester United, according to Goal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to overhaul his squad following a disappointing campaign that saw United finish sixth in the table and defence is an area of concern as they shipped 54 goals in their 38 Premier League games last season.

A new right-back is on the agenda as Antonio Valencia will leave when his contract expires at the end of the month, Matteo Darmian is expected to seal a move back to Italy while Ashley Young turns 34 soon so a long-term replacement is needed.

Diogo Dalot is a big prospect but he spent time playing further forward under Solskjaer last season and he’s not thought to be ready to start at right-back on a regular basis just yet so United are on the look out for a top clash full-back.

Wan-Bissaka has been widely touted as Solskjaer’s prime target and the Manchester Evening News claimed last week that the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old right-back.

The Daily Mail then reported that a deal was on the verge of completion following extensive talks on Friday with United set to pay Palace £42.5m up front plus additional add-ons to sign Wan-Bissaka this summer .

Goal suggest the final deal will be worth £55m and they say the defender will undergo his medical at United’s Carrington training base when he returns from international duty with the England U21s later this week.

The England U21s complete a disappointing European Championships with their final group game against Croatia this evening and will then be heading home after crashing out of the tournament following defeats to France and Romania.

Goal claim Wan-Bissaka is expected to travel to Manchester to undergo his medical at Carrington later this week before sealing his move to Man Utd and becoming their second signing of the summer following the arrival of Daniel James.

Wan-Bissaka should prove to be an excellent addition to their squad as he’s developed into one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since breaking into the Palace first team under Roy Hodgson.
