Man Utd make contact to sign South American star in potential £71.7m deal

Manchester United have made contact with Juventus to discuss the signing of Paulo Dybala in a deal that could cost around £71.7m, according to reports

Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Man Utd are keen on Paulo Dybala….

Manchester United have made contact with Juventus to discuss the signing of Paulo Dybala in a deal that could cost around £71.7m, according to reports in Italy via the Express.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already snapped up winger Daniel James and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer but the Man Utd boss is expected to bring in more new recruits before the transfer window closes in less than three weeks time.

A new striker could be on the agenda as Romelu Lukaku is being strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan to link-up with former boss Antonio Conte and it appears Solskjaer is eyeing an audacious swoop to sign Dybala as a replacement.

The Express are citing Gazzetta dello Sport reporter Nicolo Schira as claiming that United have joined Paris Saint-Germain in making contact with Juventus to discuss Dybala’s situation with the Italians demanding at least £71.7m [€80m] to cash-in on the South American forward.

Man Utd have the financial resources to pay that kind of money, however, they may have trouble convincing Dybala to make a move to Old Trafford as Schira says the player is keen to remain in Turin this summer.

Schira said on Twitter:

“#ManchesterUnited and #PSG are interested in Paulo #Dybala,”

“First contacts about his future. #Juventus want €80M at least to sell him, but he would like to stay.”

Dybala has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting attackers in European football since joining Juventus from Palermo in 2015 and he’s helped the Italian giants win a whole host of trophies including four Serie A titles.

The Argentinean international can play anywhere across the front three attacking positions and has bags of ability so he’d be an excellent signing for Solskjaer if Manchester United could pull it off.

His future has been in doubt in recent months as Dybala’s form was badly affected by the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer with the attacker scoring just five goals in his 30 league appearances last season.

You’d assume he may be open to a new challenge to step out of Ronaldo’s shadow but it appears Dybala is keen to stay at Juve and even if he was to leave, United could face competition from PSG, so a move to Old Trafford is still a long way off at this stage.
