Kieran Tierney has been posing in his new kit after completing a £25m move to Arsenal from Celtic this afternoon.

Unai Emery has been chasing Tierney this summer after identifying left-back as an area that needed improvement amid on-going concerns over Nacho Monreal – who’s coming towards the end of his career – and Sead Kolasinac – who’s been caught out defensively at times.

It’s been tough negotiating with Celtic as they refused to budge from their valuation but after seeing two previous offers rejected, Arsenal finally reached an agreement to sign Tierney following fresh talks on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old travelled down from Scotland with his agent late last night and underwent his medial at London Colney this morning before agreeing personal terms over a lucrative contract.

Arsenal have now announced on Arsenal.com that Tierney has joined the club on a long-term deal after completing his switch from Celtic and he’ll wear the No.3 shirt this season. The precise fee hasn’t been revealed but the Scottish Sun says it’s a restructured £25m deal.

The Scottish international will come in to become Arsenal’s new first choice left-back and I think he’ll be an excellent addition to Emery’s squad as he’s been one of the best full-backs in British football in recent years.

There is no doubt he’s an upgrade on Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac so we’ve strengthen a key area of the defence and Tierney is both solid at the back and a threat going forward so he’ll suit Emery’s style of play perfectly.

It’s been a busy day in north London as David Luiz is also set to join Arsenal from Chelsea so it means Emery has brought in six new signing following the arrivals of Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos, William Saliba and Nicolas Pepe.

However, in a late twist, it looks like there will be a big money departure from Arsenal as BBC journalist David Ornstein claims Everton have agreed to sign Alex Iwobi for a fee in the region of £35m-£40m.
