Manchester United get their new Premier League campaign underway with a mouth-watering heavyweight clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Here is the team we think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will select:

Goalkeeper: David De Gea still hasn’t signed his new contract and he suffered a dip in form towards the end of last season but the Spaniard will still keep his place as United’s No.1 this season.

Defence: Man Utd have spent heavily strengthening their defence this summer with Aaron Wan-Bissaka arriving in a £50m deal from Crystal Palace while it required a world record £80m offer to prise Harry Maguire away from Leicester City.

Both players should make a huge difference to the United back four – which conceded 54 league goals last season – and are expected to make their competitive debuts against Chelsea tomorrow.

Luke Shaw should keep his place at left-back while Victor Lindelof is expected to start alongside Maguire at the heart of defence. Eric Bailly is ruled out with a serious injury while Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will battle for a place on the bench.

Midfield: Paul Pogba remains a Manchester United player despite being linked with a move away from Old Trafford throughout the summer window and the Frenchman is expected to start against Chelsea on Sunday.

Ander Herrera has left for Paris Saint-Germain this summer and no replacement was signed by Solskjaer so it looks like Scott McTominay is going to play a key role in the United midfield this season after impressing in pre-season.

Nemanja Matic’s place in Solskjaer’s new-look side is under threat so he could find himself on the bench against his former club while Fred may have to make-do with a place on the bench as well.

That’s because Jesse Lingard appears to have been given a key role by the United manager with the England international playing in the attacking midfield role during much of pre-season so I expect him to start along with Pogba and McTominay.

Attack: We should see a new-look Man Utd attack against Chelsea that’s based on pace and mobility. Romelu Lukaku has joined Inter Milan and Anthony Martial has been playing as a central striker in pre-season so it looks like the French international is going to be given his chance through the middle.

Marcus Rashford should also see plenty of game-time up front but in recent games he’s been playing out on the left while summer signing Daniel James could be given the nod to make his competitive debut on the right-wing.

Mason Greenwood is another option for Solskjaer but the teenager may have to settle for a place on the bench against Chelsea alongside Juan Mata. Alexis Sanchez is back in training but he’s miles short of fitness so isn’t expected to be involved tomorrow.
