This is a match preview ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Burnley including team news, line-ups and predicted score

Burnley Turf Moor

Liverpool will look to maintain their perfect start to the new season when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor this evening.

After beating Norwich City and Southampton in their opening two games, Liverpool made it three from three after beating Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield last weekend thanks largely to a brace from Mohamed Salah.

It means the reigning European champions sit two points clear of Man City at the top of the Premier League table and they can cement that position with another win over Burnley later this evening.

However, Sean Dyche’s side will be quietly confident of getting a positive result on home soil as they’ve made a solid start to the season. After thrashing Southampton 3-0 on the opening weekend, Burnley narrowly lost 2-1 at Arsenal before holding Wolves to a 1-1 draw so this won’t be an easy test for Liverpool.

Team news

Liverpool will continue to be without number one goalkeeper Alisson Becker as he’s still recovering from a calf injury and Jurgen Klopp has been reluctant to put a firm date on his comeback. Adrian will continue to deputise between the sticks.

Naby Keita is also missing due to a muscle injury but James Milner, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are pushing for recalls if Klopp opts to freshen things up.

Burnley are expected to be without Johann Berg Gundmundsson after he picked up a calf injury while Steven Defour and Robbie Brady remain on the sidelines.

Prediction

Burnley 1-2 Liverpool: Burnley have lost eight of their last 10 Premier League games against Liverpool and the Reds head into the game on a 12-game winning streak so it’s difficult to see past an away win. Klopp’s side looked formidable at times against Arsenal and are clearly in confident mood right now.

I do think Burnley will give them problems as Turf Moor can be a difficult place to go but the European champions should prove to be too strong in the end. I’m backing Liverpool to take home a hard fought 2-1 win.
