Man Utd vs Arsenal preview | Confirmed team news | Expected line-up’s | Prediction

This is our match preview ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford including team news and line-up’s.

Bukayo Saka Arsenal

Old rivalries are renewed when Manchester United welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford in a heavyweight Premier League clash this evening.

United head into the game off the back of two disappointing results as they lost 2-0 at West Ham last weekend before needing penalties to edge past Rochdale in the Carabao Cup after being held to a 1-1 draw at home.

The pressure is certainly growing on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so the Man Utd boss will be desperate to get back to winning ways this evening and secure a victory that would see the Red Devils climb from 11th to joint fifth in the table.

However, Unai Emery will be looking to pile more misery on Solskjaer as the Arsenal boss aims to make it four wins on the bounce in all competitions with victory at Old Trafford this evening.

Having beaten Eintracht Frankfurt away in the Europa League, 10-man Arsenal came from behind twice to beat Aston Villa last time out in the league and thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 in the Carabao Cup last Tuesday night.

Another win tonight would see the Gunners move into the top four and go level on points with third-placed Leicester City so Emery will be keen to register a victory away at one of his closest rivals.

Team news

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a major doubt for the game after aggravating an ankle injury against Rochdale last week while Anthony Martial is also expected to miss out once again due to a niggling thigh problem.

Marcus Rashford is set to remain out as he continues to overcome a groin injury so youngster Mason Greenwood could start up front while Nemanja Matic could line-up alongside Scott McTominay in midfield.

Luke Shaw is set to return to the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury but his lack of match fitness may mean a place on the bench with Ashley Young starting at left-back.

As confirmed on Arsenal.com, the visitors will be without Alexandre Lacazette as he’s still out with an ankle injury so Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will lead the line up front and he’ll be fresh after being rested in the League Cup.

Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney are set to make their first Premier League appearances of the season after returning to full fitness but Hector Bellerin won’t be involved after playing 90 minutes of the Arsenal U23s on Saturday.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is available again after serving a one-match suspension while teenage winger Bukayo Saka could start in attack after impressing in recent games.

Prediction

Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal: The Gunners will head to Manchester quietly confident of picking up a positive result, especially if Pogba, Martial and Rashford all miss out. Arsenal have had their fair share of problems this season but they are in better shape than United and with Aubameyang in red-hot form they’ll always be a threat going forward.

However, Arsenal’s defence continues to be their Achilles heel and they haven’t won any of their previous 12 league trips to Old Trafford so Man Utd shouldn’t be written off just yet. The Gunners will always give you chances so I think United can take a point if they keep things tight at the back and keep Aubameyang quiet.
