Arsenal have confirmed a major double injury blow ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton.

Interim boss Freddie Ljungberg is expected to take charge of his final game before Mikel Arteta comes in as Unai Emery’s permanent replacement and the Swedish coach is facing a mounting injury crisis in defence.

Kieran Tierney has missed Arsenal’s last two matches after suffering a dislocated shoulder during the win at West Ham earlier this month and the club have now confirmed he’s facing three months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery this week.

The Scottish international won’t be back in training until March so with Tierney out for the foreseeable future the last thing Arsenal needed was losing their other left-back but unfortunately Sead Kolasinac is also facing a spell on the treatment table.

Kolasinac limped out of Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester City last weekend and the club have confirmed he sustained ankle ligament damage that will keep him out until some point in January. It means Arsenal will be without a recognised left-back for the busy Christmas and New Year period so we’ll have to come up with a solution quickly.

Our problems at the back continue as Hector Bellerin remains a doubt for the trip to Everton after missing the last four games with a hamstring injury while Rob Holding will also require a late fitness test on an on-going knee problem.

Arsenal have also provided an update on Dani Ceballos to confirm the midfielder is hoping to resume full training next week as he bids to return from a hamstring injury but the Spaniard will remain on the sidelines this weekend.

Mesut Ozil is also in danger of missing the Everton game after picking up a foot injury against Man City last weekend but there is some positive news as Granit Xhaka is available again after missing two games with concussion.

An update on Arsenal.com said:

Hector Bellerin
Tight right hamstring. Being assessed ahead of Everton (a).

Dani Ceballos
Left hamstring. Sustained during Vitoria SC (a) on November 6. Will miss Everton (a). Aiming to return to full training next week.

Rob Holding
Left knee. Bruising to knee. Being assessed ahead of Everton (a).

Sead Kolasinac
Right ankle. Ankle ligament injury sustained during Manchester City (h). Aiming to return to full training in January.

Mesut Ozil
Right foot. Sustained during Manchester City (h). Being assessed ahead of Everton (a).

Kieran Tierney
Right shoulder. Dislocated right shoulder during West Ham United (a). Kieran had successful surgery this week and will now rehabilitate for around three months, aiming to return to full training in March.

Granit Xhaka
Available for selection after concussion sustained during West Ham United (a).

So Arsenal have a number of injury concerns to contend with as they look to get their season back on track with a positive result against Everton this weekend having won just one of their last 10 games in all competitions.
