Gunners Faced 12-Men Today: Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland

Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates thanks to a b*stard of a ref, who made two massive errors that cost the Gunners all 3 points. We were on top for most of the match, and even Chamakh hit the post, but overall it was not enough to get the 3 points we required.

In the 1st min a miss-pass from Denilson lead to a Sunderland corner. Fortunately for us, nothing happened. In the 9th min a clinical pass from Arshavin found Clichy free on the right. The Frenchman’s cross however was too much for Nikko to handle. Sagna picked it up on the right, and found Nasri in the middle. Cutting back onto his left the Frenchman shot straight at Mignolet. Nice move for Arsenal.

After that there were no real chances. A few lofty crosses from Sagna but nothing fruitful. By the 19th min jack’s grounded long shot was the closest we got. ( That too it was off target ) We looked blunt to be honest, and there was no real edge to our game. In the 27th min Arshavin almost got to Jack’s long ball but as we all know “Almost “ never counts !

In the 34th min Nasri made a brilliant run into the box, sadly it just lacked the finish. But he did earn a corner. And from the corner Nikko shot his bicycle straight at Mignolet. In the 38th min Nasri shot straight at Mignolet after some nice work from Clichy. 1 min later Mignolet got his first real test when he made a terrific save from a close range Nikko volley.

When the halftime whistle blew, it was the gunners manager who had to give a real team talk.

When the second half began we did not have any chances, but DJ did go down after a challenge by Muntari. In the 61st min Arshavin smashed the ball at Mignolet from 12 yards. What a chance! In the 72nd min Mignolet made a great save to deny Nasri from a freekick outside the box. 2 mins later Chamakh hit the bar & 4 mins later Sagna shot over.

In the 79th min Arshavin squandered a 1-on-1 but this was a controversy as Bramble brought him down, then the Russian had a goal ruled out for off-sdie, but replays showed he was on! Well, whatever happens the ref is a *astard.

In the 82nd min Szczesny pulled out a world-class save to keep out Welbeck. When we entered the 90, there was 4 mins added on. In the 3rd min of extra time Nikko headed the ball straight to Mignolet. After that the “So called Ref” blew his whistle. 3 points behind United with 10 games to go. Lets see what happens…

Guns-out,
