Liverpool v Man United Preview: Team News & Predicted Score

No.19 is the goal for United this season and what a sweet achievement it would be. There is no team that will want to prevent it as much as Liverpool, however, as they look to prevent United from edging in front in title stakes.

Fergie to lead to United to no.15?

The defeat to Chelsea meant that Arsenal had the opportunity to close the gap in the title race to just one point against Sunderland on Saturday. However, a draw was all the Gunners could manage and that result provides some welcome relief.

United are three points ahead coming into this encounter and should go for the opportunity to pull away even further. We are a much better outfit than this Liverpool side and should go for the jugular.

Dalglish is without defenders Daniel Agger and Fabio Aurelio, with the pair both having thigh injuries, while Martin Kelly is out for a month with a hamstring tear.

Midfielder Raul Meireles, who has done well under Dalglish, is expected to be fit though, while Luis Suarez should start in attack again.

Nemanja Vidic is suspended after being sent off against  Chelsea, so – with Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans still injured – Wes Brown is in line for a recall to partner Chris Smalling in the centre of United’s defence. This could be a source of worry, particulrly if Andy Carroll is used off the bench. He is big and physical and it would be nice to have Vidic there to cement him.

Anderson, Ji Sung Park and Antonio Valencia are still missing for United, while Dimitar Berbatov – scorer of a hat-trick when the sides met at Old Trafford in September – will hope for a recall after being benched to the benefit of Javier Hernandez in the last two games.
