Fergie’s Media Blackout Will Help Resurrect United

man utd news

Manchester United’s sinking result against Liverpool will definitely resonate in Sir Alex Ferguson’s mind for quite a while, but he knows his immediate task is to regroup his players. Losing two games on the bounce is certainly a rare thing for United, something that has only happened twice in the last five years, so, now, Ferguson faces one of his greatest challenges as a manager trying to rekindle the flame of passion and confidence back in his players.

The Reds’ lifeless performance against Liverpool will be seen as not only a complete embarrassment, but also a personal insult to proud manager, so should not be any doubt that he will use it as extra motivation to guide the Reds back to form, himself.

The manager showed that he certainly meant business by requiring that all of his players remain focused for United’s next nine Barclays Premier League matches by executing a media black out before and after the loss at Anfield.

The disillusioned, trouble-causing media has already started their yearly flurry of witch-hunts in recent weeks with their attacks on both Ferguson and Wayne Rooney. To prevent any further outside distractions – as well as more word-twisting lies – the United manager has, unsurprisingly, boycotted all of his media obligations.

This stance is brash one, to say the least, but the Gaffer is really the only one that knows what is required to get his teams re-focused and properly assess all of the glaring issues.

Outside of the doors Old Trafford and Carrington, this completely unthinkable, yet maybe genius, act of denying the press access will certainly cause even more of an uproar, but some of the scathing personal attacks that have already taken place are classless, but expected.

Their mindless objective is to try and finagle an adverse reaction from Sir Alex, which could come with a fury that they are certainly not ready for – especially from The Sun. Steve Brenner, a reporter for that ever-so reputable paper, has already voiced his frustrations by being shunned and amazingly called the most successful manager in English football history a “gutless idiot.”

When someone writes for a trashy tabloid it is like selling your soul to the devil, so their core values – morals, ethics and courtesy – are tossed out with yesterday’s garbage. The press will always have a field day with whatever Sir Alex says, or does not say for that matter, simply because they live in a world of entitlement rather than accountability.

Modern-day journalists in the daily publications can be closely associated with a used-car salesman – meaning that would even sell a virus to baby just to make a dollar.

Proper

Sir Alex’s refusal has not been well received by some United supporters, either, but at least they have gone about it in a classier, less invasive manner. The supporters wanted to know Ferguson’s usual post-game assessment about the game, which should really be common knowledge, by his refusal to speak.

However, some also wanted to know the progress of the first-team players who are out injured at the moment, which was a reasonable request. Unfortunately, we will not find out their progress, unless Sir Alex breaks his stance and speaks with some of the renowned staff reporters at the club.

Over his 24 year managerial career at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson’s stubbornness has been his greatest attribute, and this media blackout, could very well be yet another genius motivational tool that he will be remembered for.
