We have an all-English heavy-weight clash to look forward to this weekend as Manchester City take on Chelsea in the Champions League final.

The game offers City the opportunity to win the European Cup for the first time in their history and Pep Guardiola will be desperate to write himself into the clubs history books.

The Citizens have already won the Premier League title and the League Cup so far this season so they can also secure a memorable treble with victory on Saturday night.

Man City head into the final off the back of a resounding 5-0 win over Everton on the final day of the domestic season so they’ll be in confident mood.

Chelsea on the other hand have stuttered of late as they lost to Leicester City in the FA Cup final recently and needed a favour from Tottenham to secure a top four place last weekend.

The Blues had lost away to Aston Villa in their final game but Spurs scored two late goals at the King Power to beat Leicester 4-2 and gift Chelsea fourth place.

Thomas Tuchel is now under pressure to get his squad back to playing the football we saw a few weeks ago as he looks to win the Champions League for only the second time in Chelsea’s history.

Betting odds

It should come as no surprise that the overwhelming favourite in this year’s Champions League final is the club that bested the other in their domestic league by seventeen points.

Manchester City are priced at -225 to lift the trophy on Saturday night while you can get Chelsea at odds of +163 to claim glory in Portugal.

Some punters will be tempted to back Chelsea given they recently beat Man City at the Etihad Stadium in their Premier League meeting. However, City have been one of the favourites to win the Champions League throughout the season and Guardiola will be determined to get the job done this weekend.

Team news

Manchester City have a clean bill of health as they have no fresh injury concerns to worry about following their win over Everton last weekend.

Sergio Aguero is pushing for a recall after scoring twice off the bench on Sunday while Joao Cancelo could also come back into the starting eleven.

Chelsea will assess the fitness of N’Golo Kante ahead of the game after he missed the defeat to Aston Villa with a niggling thigh injury. Tuchel will give the midfielder every opportunity to prove his fitness.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will also need a late fitness check after he was forced off against Villa with a chest injury. Kepa is on stand-by to deputise between the sticks if Mendy is ruled out.

Andreas Christensen is pushing to start after returning to full fitness while Kai Havertz could also be recalled by Tuchel after being on the bench at Villa Park last time out.

Predicted score

Chelsea will be buoyed by their recent win over City and Tuchel has the tactical knowhow to try and nullify City’s attacking power. However, that’s easier said than done as Man City are a formidable side on their day.

We expect a cagey opening half but feel City will be too strong in the end. Man City 2-1 Chelsea
