[REVEALED] The Name Of Wenger’s Secret £20m Summer Bid

Arsenal coach Bob Wilson has revealed that Arsene Wenger tried to sign Pepe Reina in the summer submitting a club record £20m offer for the Liverpool man. There were rumours in the summer about this bid but now Wilson has confirmed the move as Wenger tried to solve the gunners clear goalkeeping problems that have plagued the club in recent seasons.

Speaking on Absolute Radio, Wilson claimed:

“He went for arguably the best goalkeeper in the country at the beginning of the season. He went for in the close season Pepe Reina.

“It didn’t become known. He [Arsene Wenger] doesn’t do it that way.

“He offered a huge amount of money, so he tried like mad to do that [deal].”

On one hand it’s good to hear Wenger was willing to splash some cash on a world class goalkeeper but equally frustrating that we didn’t land the player who i think would have us sitting top of the league if he was donning the famous Red & White. Reina has made no secret that he is unsettled at Liverpool and only this weekend stated once again that he wants to be challenging for honours, so there still may be a chance.

Although, Wilson believes that now Szczesny has been given a shot at the first team the Pole will be Arsenal first choice for several years to come.

“I happen to think that Szczesny will be in Arsenal’s goal for many years to come.”

Would Arsenal fans like to see Reina between the sticks next season or give Szczesny a chance?
