[VIDEO GOALS] Arsenal 1 Liverpool 1: Reds Can Stand Tall

I am posting here on behalf of Liverpool fans all around, and I have to say that it was a display to be proud of for the men in red.

With a team where it was practically the walking wounded, the first team regulars such as Gerrard, Aurelio, Johnson, Kelly, Agger and even Carragher in the match, the Liverpool FC put on a very spirited display at the Emirates.

Step in John Flanagan and Jack Robinson, aged 18 and 17 respectively, with Flanagan playing his second match in the week (debut last Wednesday) and Robinson also a relative newcomer. Robinson even had the daunting task of taking on speedy winger, Theo Walcott, a task too dificult for starter, Fabio Aurelio, who pulled his hamstring in the first half.

Both stood in phenomenally in front of the unblinking eyes of the Emirates and made wonderful accounts of themselves at their full back positions. Jay Spearing was another standout, another graduate of the academy, he was named the man-of-the match despite giving away a penalty in the match. But his tracking back and his interceptions stopped Arsenal from running rout on Liverpool.

But what must be most commendable must be what was seen in the final few minutes at the Emirates, and the Arsenal fans must still be shaking their heads in disbelief, 8th minute, stoppage time, penalty for Arsenal, converted, the crowd goes crazy, Van Persie goes ballistic (and earns a booking), and moments later, Shelvey makes some magic outside the box, and a challenge goes in right on the edge of the box, step up Suarez.

The drilled free kick straight into the wall. 10th minute stoppage time, surely game over, no? But Lucas chases after the ball, and after a rather rash challenge by Eboue, Liverpool have a penalty. Dirk Kuyt, well what can I say, if that wasn’t nerve wrecking, you must be crazy. A huge hiss of booes on Arsenal’s part and then it all seems to stop for a moment. It was the most incredible ending, the two Dutchmen scoring.

So tell me what you guys think of the game in the comments section below!

Thought the boys we’re fantastic and the youngsters proving to be very good potentials for the future!
Long time since we have had such a bright future, but with Kenny in charge and surely what must now be formality to make him permanent manager, i see only good things ahead.

Ynwa, the game cant be ended with a foul commited, neither cn it end with a spot kick pending or with th ball in th box. Evrythng was taken right.

It takes a liverpool fan to be proud of cheating. When i watched t he game, i thought it was a penalty. Today i looked at replay and it was not. Just look at direction Kuyt was running. He was not after the ball. In any interpetation he was trying to block Eboue. It should have been Arsenal’s free kick.
You f/b both were very good, but predict a bright future based on one game also takes a Liverpool fan to do.
At present Liverpool is #6 and has no quality in players. With Torres, Alonzo,Benayun out and Reyna and Jirard getting old, i am affraid you future does not look too good. You can go on about winning from the top teams, but everyone did that, even teams in relegation.
Rreferees do make mistakes and that is football, but go Arsenal blogs and you will not find anybody proud of a player who cheated and made a referee a foul.
And when your pride gets better of you, please remember: Arsenal is playing Champions League and you will be drraming about it for years to come.
As for Kenny, agood player may or may not be a good manager. ONLY TIME WILL SHOW. I remember him playing. You don’t have anything like him now, especially his few last season. I thought he was better at 31 then at 25.

Pong, you are clearly just a bitter Arsenal supporter. Instead of trying to blame it on supposed “cheating”, you should take a look at your own team’s performance. For a team that is meant to be competing for the league, you should not be making such elementary mistakes in the last seconds of the game. It was a penalty for Liverpool, and deep down you know it. Eboue was goal side of Lucas (yes it was Lucas, not Kuyt, so get your facts right), with no apparent danger, yet decides to apply unnecessary pressure on him and push him over. That shows a distinct lack of footballing intelligence, and again shows why you will have another trophyless season. Your players could only find their way through a completely make-shift defence including a 17 and 18 year old with a penalty in the 108th minute of the game. Jack Robinson kept Walcott in his back pocket all game, so much so that Walcott got taken off with half an hour to play.

Secondly, you say that Liverpool have “no quality players”. Do you not count the likes of Carroll, Suarez, Gerrard, Carragher, Meireles etc as quality? Yet these players show something that many of the Arsenal players seemed to lack yesterday; desire to win. They were proud of playing for the club, and put their bodies on the line (quite literally in Carragher’s case) for the sake of the team, and never gave up, even when the game was seemingly lost.

So I think you should give credit where credit’s due, and stop being so unnecessarily bitter, it’s pathetic.
