Feyenoord Confirm Miyaichi Won’t Be At Arsenal Next Season

Ryo Miyaichi

Arsenal starlet Ryo Miyaichi is unlikely to be playing for the Gunners next season, according to Feyenoord technical director Martin Van Geel.

Miyaichi has enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell with Feyenoord during the last 6 months, scoring 3 goals and setting up countless others in his 11 games so far. Highlights of one of his latest performances can be seen here.

Many Arsenal fans had hoped the young Japanese attacker would link up with the Gunners first team squad next season, and secure a work permit for these shores. However, it is still highly unlikely that he will qualify for a work permit, despite breaking in to the Japan squad in recent months. So another loan spell next season is almost a guarantee and Van Geel is hopeful Arsenal will allow Miyaichi to join Feyenoord on loan again next season to continue his development:

“Arsenal will make a decision over Ryo in pre-season. We have to respect that. He will probably not be playing at Arsenal next season due to English rules and regulations. However, it could be that he will be at another European club.

Of course we hope we can keep him at Feyenood, he is already settled over here.”

So looks like Arsenal fans will have to wait a little longer to see Ryo in a Gunners shirt. Are you excited about the prospect of Miyaichi playing for Arsenal? Is he ready for the first team just yet or is another loan spell a good thing? Let us know your views below…
