United & Spurs Battle For “Available” £18m Real Madrid Man

By on June 3, 2011

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out for Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra. The former Chelsea and Arsenal man moved to the Bernabeu from Championship strugglers Portsmouth back in 2009 for a reported fee of £20million.

The Daily Star reports that both United and Spurs are keen on the defensive midfielder. United will be looking to fill the void left by the injury prone Owen Hargreaves and the retired Paul Scholes, whilst Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to work with the French ace after an impressive stint whilst in charge at Pompey.

Real have slapped an £18million price tag on Diarra who is set to leave the Bernabeu after failing to secure regular 1st team football.
