The possibility of Arsenal letting Samir Nasri go in the summer is increasing by the day, no thanks to the Frenchman and his delaying of signing a new contract with Arsenal. It isn’t good news at all for Arsenal fans at all who would have liked to be concentrating solely on the arrival of new players instead of the departure of some of their best.

Arsene Wenger dismissed the reports suggesting that Arsenal may sell their key man to Manchester United this summer, saying towards the end of May that the one thing which is for certain is that they would not sell the player to Manchester United despite the contract disagreements. Now however, when questioned on a move to United, the Arsenal midfielder refused to rule it out whilst admitting he may not sign a contract renewal at Arsenal:

“I don’t know if I will sign a new contract.”

“Anyway, the discussions are ongoing. For the moment, I don’t think about this. We will speak about it after the match with Poland.”

“Do I want to go to Man United? First, we should see if it’s real and if it is concrete.”

These are not encouraging words from an Arsenal fans perspective who witnessed Nasri have a superb first half to their season, showing stunning examples of top quality football that Arsenal need in their team to compete for the Premier League. It was telling when his form slipped, the rest of the Arsenal team faltered, ending up a hugely disappointing 4th place behind Manchester City.

Apparently, the deal on the table that has been offered to Nasri is a five-year deal in the region of £90,000-per-week – but the player is stalling on the signing of it. Nasri is trying to get himself a weekly payment of £110,000 which would bring him up the the payment of Arsenal’s highest earner, Cesc Fabregas.

Tell me what you think!
