Players Liverpool ACTUALLY Need

The Reds’ manager Kenny Dalglish has been busy searching for players in the transfer market. The Reds’ manager Kenny Dalglish has been busy searching for players in the transfer market. Liverpool are currently in need for a left back, a centre back and a winger.

Here are a list of players that are ‘ideal’ for Liverpool, players that Liverpool actually need if they are to mount up a serious title challenge next season. (they haven’t really been linked with moves to Liverpool yet)

Centre backs

1. Mats Hummels and Neven Subotic

Both played a major part in Borussia Dortmund’s success in the German Bundesliga. Hummels was previously hailed as the best man-marker of Germany while Subotic’s impressive form in the German league has certainly caught the attention of several top European clubs.

At the age of just 22, Neven Subotic has already made a total of 98 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 10 goals. Whereas Hummels was the highest ranking defender on the Castrol Performance Index on 24th May 2011, an amazing rank of 7th in overall.

With Kenny Dalglish putting so much emphasis in signing Phil Jones (and failed), perhaps one of these two Borussia Dortmund defenders are better options then Jones?

2. Simon Kjaer

Kjaer was previously on Liverpool’s transfer radar but was then removed, I don’t exactly know why. The 22-year-old Denmark international has received rave reviews for his eye-catching performances in the Bundesliga this season, which begs the question why the club are looking to offload such an exciting prospect – which still doesn’t tell me why Liverpool are not keeping an eye on him.

However, I do think it’s possible to lure Kjaer to Liverpool, with his international teammate Daniel Agger proving to be a decisive factor in convincing the player to move to Anfield. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have been closely monitoring Kjaer’s situation and could pounce on the Wolfsburg defender anytime.

Don’t go too far away as we’ll be checking out the ‘ideal’ left backs for Liverpool in our next episode.
