Chelsea Ace Staying At The Bridge

By on June 13, 2011

Chelsea dynamo Michael Essien has laughed off speculation linking him with a move to Inter Milan.

Reports in Italy suggest the former European Champions were set to move for the Ghanaian, but Essien was quick to quash any speculation linking him with a move away from the club. The 28-year old told Sky Sports:

“I am looking forward to next season, I want to win back the title and bring the Champions League to Chelsea.

“So I am not aware of not playing for Chelsea next season.”

Essien will be looking for an injury free campaign next term. The former Lyon man missed 2 months last year with an injury and the impact was evident with Chelsea winning just 1 out of a possible 9 in his absence.

For me,michael essien is still relevant 2 chealseafc and same goes for all other players in the team…What they need is the right (ghafa) and they will all pick again…The problem with CARLO was that the players lost confidence in him…

Chelsea must get players who are in their early twenties, players who can stay for eight to ten years. Most players slow down after 30. Pastore at 21 would be the best long term playmaker option. Modric at 26 and Sneijder at 27 are excellent players but are already at the wrong end of their twenties. Then there is Chelsea’s main target Neymar who is only 19. Neymar is both a striker and a creative midfielder. He often attacks from the left wing, but can play in any position across the front or mid three. In fact he often swaps sides just to confuse the opposition. This means he could replace Malouda, Anelka, Kalou or even Lampard. He is good at breaking down defences, and providing perfectly weighted through-balls. He could work well with Torres or Drogba. He is always confident, something Chelsea often lacks, and an extremely exciting player to watch.
