Fabregas and Gallas injury update

By Fab4.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger gave an injury update on Cesc Fabregas following Arsenal’s scintillating 2-2 draw with Barcelona at the Emirates. Speaking to the media Wenger said:

“It looks like he will be out for a while.”

“He will certainly miss the Wolves game on Saturday, and is suspended for the return leg against Barcelona anyway, but it looks like a question of weeks he will be missing.” Wenger said.

Arsenal face Wolves at the Emirates on Saturday and we should be ok to beat them without Fabregas, but it’s a massive blow to lose him for the return leg against Barca. I know he would be missing anyway through suspension, after getting a ridiculous yellow card for making a fine ball-winning tackle, but this injury is another cruel blow to Arsenal.

The big worry is that he will miss the North London derby when Arsenal travel to face the Spuds on the 14th April at S*ite Hart Lane, which going by Arsene’s ‘weeks’ is very likely.

To make things worse, Wenger also confirmed William Gallas could miss the rest of the season after aggravating a calf strain. Speaking to Cabal Plus, Wenger said:

“He pulled his calf muscle and I think it’s the end of the season for him.”

The Arsenal manager was unable to give any news on Andrey Arshavin who also went off early against Barca. We really don’t get any luck with injuries do we Arsenal!

**UPDATE** reports are suggesting fabregas may have suffered a suspected broken leg and will have an x-ray tonight. Obviously if a broken bone is found fabregas will miss the rest of the season and may be ruled out of the world cup. Fingers crossed it’s not that serious!

After the game fabregas said this to the media:

‘I fear the worst, which is that I have broken something. I do not think it is going to be good news, but still I hope there will be.
‘When I took the penalty, I was quite strong, but after when I went to get the ball, I could not walk any more.
‘It is the fibula. I think I put my leg between Puyol’s when I was fouled, and kicked it.’
Fabregas added: ‘Until the penalty, I was feeling quite good.
‘It has been an amazing experience and I will remember it for the rest of my life.’
