Torres: “I Am Not Sorry I Signed For Chelsea”

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres admits he had a poor season in front of goal last year. Only scoring 12 goals all season isn’t something the Spanish international is familiar with, he said:

“For me the past season was the worst since I arrived in England. The injury I sustained at the end the World Cup damaged my performance and made things more complicated than at any time in my career.

“Twelve goals in all in a season is nothing for me. Never during the season did I play to 100 per cent, neither for Liverpool or Chelsea.”

The £50million striker only scored one goal for the Blues, nine for Liverpool and two for Spain, but the former Liverpool man believes he will come good next season and doesn’t regret signing for the Chelsea:

“So I prefer to forget what happened. But I am not sorry I signed for Chelsea. I am convinced that when the Chelsea machine is at its full rhythm we will be very difficult to beat.”

Chelsea is a way bigger team than liverpool. Yes you got more titles than us but i never thought a big team could stay this long without any silver wear come on. And you cannot compare torres with andy and suares thats why yall bought two players with the price of one player. Yall should get used to the fact of not winning any silver wear because its just the begining of a long spell of a drought

We brought two players with the money you brought Torres for because we were running out o time and options at the end of the transfer Market. That’s why you paid a ridiculous amount of money for Torres and we payed a ridiculous amount of money for Carroll.

The difference between Torres and Carroll is that Carroll is English, Younger and has still got his best years to come. Torres is 26 (about) now and he is meant to be at his peak (I understand that he has had an injury) and will only get worse as he gets older

You can argue that we are not a big English club anymore but I honestly think – providing that we have a successful transfer season this summer – that Liverpool will once again, under King Kenny, contend for the title next year. I strongly do not believe there is to be the supposed ‘long spell of drought’ that you are predicting.

… And to think, Carroll is young so (providing he does decent) will have a larger resale price on his head than £35million…
To think that you could ever sell Torres for over £50million is Laughable !!!

Wow some senisble comments on torres for once…

torres needed rest really to recover from his injury, all the liverpool fans know he was rushed back as the team relied heavily on him…

I do hope kenny (you have to respect ex players like this) brings liverpool back into the fold, as it will mean chelsea winning the league above a excellent ManUtd, ManCity, Arsenal and liverpool and even better achievement.

At least you liverpool lads did not go down the you bought success route… It is tiring to keep reading it, I think people need to read chelseas trophy list 6 years before Roman took over, it does not look to shabby does it…

I think Torres needs a good pre-season to configure himself into the team fully. Players signed in the January transfer window never truly flourish. Diego Forlan, Drogba and Milito are all examples of players who have somehow gained tremondous form in the 2009-10 seasons. Strangely, in the season that has just finished, all 3 players have a similar “form”, with statistics that very few strikers would be proud of. Notice how Drogba’s best season was when he was around 31/32 (in terms of goals scored). Chelsea’s midfield definitely needs a revamp and Villas Boas should inject some more attacking tactics into the squad.
