REPORTS: Chelsea Face Points Deduction Over Modric Pursuit

Chelsea could be hit with a points deduction over their attempts to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric.

The Sunday Mirror claims that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has written to Chelsea warning them over their public pursuit of Modric and will consider reporting the Blues to the Premier League over their conduct with Luka Modric.

This is not the first time Chelsea have found themselves in trouble over transfer dealings. They were fined £300,000 back in 2006 over their illegal approach to sign Ashley Cole who was contracted to Arsenal at the time, the fine plus a suspended sentence for a 3 point deduction was implemented.

Chelsea again found themselves in trouble when they were accused of illegally approaching Gael Kakuta from French club Lens. The West London club was reported for illegally signing the French youngster and was subsequently banned from signings any players for two transfer windows, but an appeal from Chelsea removed the sanctioned ban but was still ordered to pay Lens a compensation fee and fine in the region of £150,000.

Tottenham will raise Chelsea’s previous conduct to the Premier League if they decide to pursue this issue with the football authorities.
