Josh McEachran: Chelsea’s Answer to Wilshere (minus the oppourtunity)

It’s true, McEachran is worth his weight in gold, he simply just hasn’t been given the chance to prove himself on the big stage (apart from some rather short sightings coming from the bench).

What Chelsea are doing, it’s not really the right way, in my opinion. They have so much talent, Sturridge, Bruma and McEachran himself, it’s just that they too often resort to signing only big name stars. Sturridge’s loan deal at Bolton being an example, being forced out by Fernando Torres’ signature. Following that exchange, Sturridge has went on to score 8 goals in just 15 games and Torres going on to score 1 in 14 appearances.

Now that says something doesn’t it? It’s the overwhelming truth at Chelsea FC and they must one day perhaps change their system. Even Abramovic’s departure could be better for the club. He has way too much control, and in my opinion, although he made Chelsea FC great, he’s damaging the club now, and the club can’t move beyond this point. He must do either

a) sit back and finally allow a manager to actually do it HIS way

b) just leave the club

Why I say this is because he does pretty rubbish deals. 20-40 million pounds for Neymar is blown way out of the water, I’ve seen him, and he is talented, but he is unproven in the European game and he would once again ruin what they should actually do with their talented crop of youngsters.

Following last summer’s departure of a number of senior professionals and the decision to look to players like Patrick van Aanholt, Josh McEachran, Jeffrey Bruma, Daniel Sturridge, Gael Kakuta and Fabio Borini rather than make new signings, one of the tasks was to make sure those young players continued to develop.

Well, if I were a Chelsea fan, I would personally say what utter bulls***. They aren’t ever going to be given the chance at Stamford Bridge, and that’s exactly why the above statement is false. Put it this way, before the times of Russian money rolling in, there was Lampard and Terry. And those two are the ONLY remaining players who have graduated through the academy that can be seen playing for Chelsea more than 15 times a season in a first team game. (Cole was bought from Arsenal)

With UEFA set to add that homegrown rule sometime in the next century (kidding, kidding), Chelsea must bring forward at least a few youngsters.

And Why Should Chelsea Bring Forward McEachran?

His Dribbling

Well, if you saw this kid dribble, you would be yearning for more. Amazing close control, this kid has, and he gets out the tightest of situations very well. He has amazing ability at trapping the ball (and I’m not talking about Peter Crouch traps, I mean quality ones) and his exceptional creativity to out-turn his opponent and burn away with pace.

His Passing

Amazing vision, amazing technique, Josh McEachran reminds me of both Xavi and Iniesta mixed together when he passes the ball around the ballpark. Reason I say that is, Xavi picks out a player exceptionally well, while Iniesta is better at exploiting defences with splitting through balls. McEachran is quality at both.

His Composure

In my opinion, he is indeed ready to be handed more starting berths, and Villas-Boas must most certainly consider him for his starting XIs. Wilshere stood out because of his ability to shine on the big occasion. McEachran has impressed on nearly every single first team game he has played in and he has been the standout.
