In a new feature, we decided to do a little Q & A with some of the top United sites out there to get there view on our transfer activity so far this season and what we can expect in the remainder of the window. The questions always remain the same for each blog.. Firstly, we asked top mufc writer Yolkie from 7Cantonas for his thoughts..

What have you made of United’s transfer dealings so far this summer?

We’ve definitely been very busy. People forget that, because everyone wants to see a big name midfielder! But in terms of the players brought in – I’m a big fan of Phil Jones and I’m really excited that we signed him.

Ashley Young is a fantastic squad player and gives us a different option on the wings, I thought the price was a little high for someone out of contract next season but still, a very good signing.

Can we expect more?

For sure, we’ll certainly be getting a keeper and it looks destined to be David De Gea – I’m not completely sure about him, mainly because of his age and the fact he’s only really had one full season. And I do think we will get a midfielder or two, if only because of losing Scholes and probably Gibson.

Is there a rebuilding of the squad happening?

Yes, that was inevitable really though. With three retirements, the release of Hargreaves and what looks like a bulk sale, there’s a turnaround in senior players that many supporters are likening to 1995, though I think this is even bigger. The difference between then and now is that in 1994/5 some of the highly rated kids were already integrated into the first team and so they were able to take that next step. Our kids are incredibly highly rated and rightly so, but they haven’t had any real exposure of being around the first team. They might well get it in pre-season but I’d be very surprised if we took that risk without the addition of at least one senior player.

Since 2008 we had a change in style and formation but towards the end of last season we looked like going back to a 4-4-2 and trusting that.

Player you would most like to see at the club next season?

I honestly don’t know, I’m just enjoying the transfer window. I’d like us to get a tough midfielder in, but if Fletcher is able to play like he did 2 seasons ago then maybe even that wouldn’t be necessary!

One to watch next season?

At United, the on-pitch progression of Ravel Morrison will be very interesting. He’s had his problems and this season is by no means make or break but he’s 18, turning 19 in February – you would think that at that age, a player as highly rated as Ravel should be knocking on the door even if only in the cups. And now’s the time to do it.

Elsewhere, I’m going to be really interested to see how Adel Taraabt does for QPR if he stays there. If he can reproduce that kind of form in the Premier League he’s going to be some talent.
