Would Sir Alex Really Allow Nani To Leave Manchester United?

With the capture of Ashley Young, there have been quite a few stories that are stating that Manchester United could potentially post a profit by selling Nani, but that is just complete nonsense.

It is one thing for the player to be linked with a move away from the club, but the papers should know full well that Sir Alex Ferguson does not want to sell any of his best players, which Nani is certainly one of them.

At this same time last summer, one could have certainly thought that the reverse would have been true, but the Portuguese winger had his best season at Old Trafford and everyone will want to see him improve on that – including the Gaffer.

At a club, like United, places in the team is never a guarantee, so Nani know should know first hand that playing in the team week in, week out is not possible. Young’s arrival should simply just add a little bit more pressure on the competition, which will only benefit the club.

To the disbelief of many, Nani showed the footballing world what prompted Sir Alex to splash out £17 million – the exact fee that Young cost – but he now has the responsibility to build upon that this coming season.

Form is everything and, unfortunately, the United No. 17 found out the hard way what happens when that dips as he missed out on starting in the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final. It was unfortunate, but instead of sulking, Nani should use it as extra motivation as Ji-Sung Park did when he suffered the same fate in the triumph over Chelsea in 2008.

Another one of his teammates, Javier Hernandez, admitted last week that he is not able to rest on his laurels, and that same thing applies to Nani. How Sir Alex sustained the lasting success over the last 20 years is that he holds players to the quote, “It’s not what you have done for me, but what will you do for me.”

Nani would be a ninny to leave Manchester United and the reverse is true as well, because club would be quite irrational to lose a very influential player like their flashy winger.
