Inter Managerial Change To Hasten A Move To Manchester United For Wesley Sneijder?

Holland international Wesley Sneijder is one of the hottest commodities in this summer’s transfer market and Old Trafford is thought to be the midfield maestro’s most likely destination. The Dutch midfielder has also been linked with Premier League clubs Chelsea and cross-town rivals Manchester City.

Reports out of England are suggesting that Inter are looking  for a fee up to £35 million for the play-maker that lead the Nerazzurri to Champions League Glory during the club’s 2009-10 campaign. Following a brilliant World Cup in which Sneijder found the back of the net 5 times, the former Ajax great managed just 7 goals in 38 appearances for Inter in a season plagued by nagging injuries.

Amidst speculation over a possible move to England, Sneijder has not committed his future to the Italian giants. In late April, Sneijder was quoted as saying that Manchester United are a “beautiful club.” The latest reports out of England have suggested that the Red Devils are set to offer the Dutch international a lucrative deal worth upwards of £200k-per-week.

Immediately after the transfer window opened, United were reportedly keen on signing Croatian Luka Modric from Tottenham and earlier this week United were linked to a £20 million bid for Arsenal’s Samir Nasri. Now that Modric seems untouchable and Nasri has recently been linked to Barcelona. The Catalan conquerors are reportedly interested in making a double swoop for Nasri and the coveted former Barcelona youth player Cesc Fabregas. But Sneijder stands apart from both Nasri and Modric.

Sneijder would be the best fit for United out of these three players, due to his ability to stretch the field by making long passes alike former Red Devil great Paul Scholes. The other characteristic that sets Sneijder apart from Modric and Nasri is his leadership on and off the field. He is a proven winner and is the ideal link-up man for United.

With Gian Piero Gasperini set to become the next boss of the Nerazzurri, Sneijder could find himself out of favour. The former Genoa manager fancies a 3-4-3 formation, which does not really feature a creative attacking midfielder like Sneijder. Gasperini’s appointment could very well result in Sneijder making a move from the San Siro to Old Trafford. Surely this is music to Sir Alex Ferguson’s ears.
