TRANSFER NEWS: Arsene Finds £13m Replacement For Clichy

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will again turn to Ligue 1 to strengthen his squad, this time its Lyon fullback Aly Cissokho.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will again turn to Ligue 1 to strengthen his squad, this time its Lyon fullback Aly Cissokho, according to reports.

The 23-year old has been identified as replacement for Gael Clichy who has just joined Premiership rivals Manchester City in a £7m switch.

The attacking left back nearly joined AC Milan back in 2009 but failed a medical paving the way for a £13m move to Lyon. The French outfit will want to recoup the entire transfer fee they paid for Cissokho leaving Wenger to part with the entire fee received for Clichy plus an additional £6m.

Despite a growing reputation in French football the defender has only managed to achieve one cap for France, but faces tough competition in Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and Manchester City new boy Gael Clichy.
