Sneijder: “My wife and I are happy in Milan”

Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a mega-money move to Manchester United, but the player admits he wants to remain in Italy.

Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a mega-money move to Manchester United, but the player admits he wants to remain in Italy but realises anything  can happen in football.

The Dutch international was a £30million target for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who was lining up the former Madrid playermaker as a replacement for the recently retired Paul Scholes. However, the 27-year old claims he and his family are very happy in Milan and wish’s to remain at the club.

“If the club decide to sell me, I’ll go where they tell me to go,” Sneijder told Vanity Fair.

“If that happens I would be very sorry. My wife and I are happy in Milan and I would miss the city and Inter.

“But anything can happen in football.

“When I was sold from Real Madrid to Inter, I had hoped to stay in Spain. In a few minutes our life changed completely.”

New Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini hopes to keep hold of his star midfielder and remains hopeful that Sneijder will be playing for Inter next season.

“He is here (at Pinzolo) and he wants to remain with us.”
